The Week That Was #33

I kinda missed a week but not a lot happened the week before last, so I'll just pick up with the week that's been instead...

Last week, I had an impromptu lieu day on Wednesday, which was handy as I was away on a work trip in Germany on Thursday and Friday then we went to visit friends, so I needed a little time to get some things together and be prepared. And I got to spend a little extra time with this fella.

I went to Stuttgart for two days, starting with a silly'o'clock flight on Thursday followed by working in my hotel room for the rest of the day. I then was meeting my client and representatives from around the world at a Portuguese restaurant and managed to navigate the S-Bahn (train) ok but then got a little lost. I made it eventually and had a nice evening before going back to the hotel, to bed, ahead of an all day meeting on Friday. It all went well and after four hours to kill at the airport and a quick flight home, I arrived back with my boys before 10am.

I had a Starbucks, Bounce protein ball and comedy writer and actor Amy Poehler's amazing book, Yes Please, to keep me company on the flights and I have to say, I am thoroughly enjoying it. She has a quick wit and such a likeable personality - her character in Parks and Recreation, Lesley Knoppe, is one of my personal heroes - and I am enjoying spending time in her world.

On Saturday, we were up and at 'em early and on the road to Yorkshire to visit and stay with our best friends. Two of them live in a village that has an annual beer festival, and we partook in a few beverages, lots of catching up and playing in the sandpit (just us adults for the former and Ethan for the latter).

We ate, we drank, we laughed and we planned our Mock Christmas celebrations and all the preparations in the lead up to two weddings in the group, both taking place next summer. And Ethan played with the rabbits.

It was chilled and lovely and very much needed.

We almost didn't get home, as my car battery died, but we soon hit the road and were back in time for bed and a week off work.

Which we are enjoying very much, but I'll save any more details for next week!
