Spring wardrobe updates with Apricot

With the weather getting warmer and the sun (mostly) shining, I felt it was time to breathe some fresh air into my wardrobe. There's so many great trends around at the moment that I love and I think can work for anyone, including denim shirt dresses, dungarees and jumpsuits, cold-shoulder tops and dresses, detailing such as embroidery or buttons and gingham, to name a few - and all of these can be found in the spring / summer 2017 collection from Apricot.

It's a brand I haven't come across before but as soon as I was introduced, I quickly found several items that would suit my style and be great for the new season. With the chance to review some pieces of my choosing, I couldn't resist and I ended up picking three new items to update my look with.

As a working mum of the one, doing the nursery run twice a day, I like to wear comfortable clothes but that doesn't mean I don't like to try some trends and make an effort. There were quite a few things on Apricot that caught my eye because of this; a balance between wearable and on trend.

The first item I chose was this denim style shirt dress (£24), in dark denim but also available in a light wash denim too.

This is a really versatile piece, with roll up or down sleeves, and a great mid-blue tone. I've been wearing mine over leggings and with Converse but it would also look great with bare legs and sandals or dressed up with some wedges and a necktie.

The second item I chose was this slouchy jumper complete with button detail at the bottom and at the cuff (£22).

I chose a dusky pink shade, as it seems to be a key colour right now, and bought it 'oversize' as I like this kind of look, paired with skinny jeans. I wear it with my favourite tan wedge boots but i's also great kept low-key with pumps or trainers.

The final piece I chose was this t-shirt style cold-shoulder black dress (£19). I wasn't sure if this trend would suit me but liked the casual style of this tunic.

Because the flash of flesh at the shoulder feels a bit cheeky, I think you can keep the rest quite simple, with some sandals, or dress it up a bit with a flash of lipstick and a choker - for a bit of goth-glam.

I am really pleased with my new wardrobe additions and think they're all really versatile, making them fast staples for me. The prices are great and the quality too, and with new items being added each week, there's quite a few other things from Apricot that have caught my eye...

As a note, I had ordered some other items first which weren't quite right (sometimes when trying a new store, it takes time to work out the right fit for you) but deliveries were quick and returns easy (although paid for by yourself) and they money quickly returned to you.

I love finding a new brand and Apricot has lots of looks that a still young mum like me can wear with confidence.
