Great little storage

Ethan has always had a passion for books and as a result, we have quite a few. A lot, in fact. All over the house.

We have a pile in the lounge, including small Mr Men board books as well as larger picture books. We have a display of vintage Beatrix Potter stories on the sideboard on the landing. We have picture books from my favourite children's author, Oliver Jeffers, on display on a picture rail in the dining room. And then there's the 'special' books in Ethan's nursery, which include treasuries and classic collections as well as a few books from my childhood.

Books, books, books.

It's so nice to Ethan take such an interest from an early age but much like his toys in general, they can start to take over.

To keep calm and order in our house as much as we can with a toddler in tow, it's all about storage and clever use of space. We have made good use of bookcases and have been able to create a corner in our lounge just for Ethan to sit and eat and play.

And now, thanks to Great Little Trading Company, we have been able to create some order for Ethan's most read books in a very stylish way.

I was looking at their toy boxes and children's storage and came across a rather cute solution for my little bookworm.

A book caddy.

Designed to look like a toolbox and in a crisp white finish, this GLTC book caddy (priced at £50)  is practical but pretty special to look at too. It has a wooden handle and a blackboard plaque on the front so you can write your own message.

I like the idea of changing the message regularly when changing over some of Ethan's books, to keep it fresh and give him new reading material to enjoy.

The book caddy requires self-assembly but the instructions are simple, the parts well labelled and I put it all together, without help, in around 20 minutes. It may have been easy but I was still pretty pleased for myself for making this and I feel proud whenever I look at it.

It measures 40cm wide by 30cm deep by 30cm high and has six different slots for books, so plenty of space for even the most avid reader. In fact, it's actually quite useful to use a couple of slots for our own magazines or catalogues.

It's proved to be a really practical solution to our book hoarding needs and it looks like a nice piece of storage in our lounge. I think it's really eye-catching and a stylish option for any home thanks to it's clean lines and white finish.

I've filled it with Ethan's current favourite reads, including classics such as Dear Zoo and Sweet Dreams Roo for my Winnie the Pooh fan, plus our latest Parragon Book Buddies read - The Ugly Duckling Slide and See board book.

Ethan adores this as he's long been obsessed with ducks, or quack-quacks as he calls them, and the pull out tabs make it really interactive for him. Yet another fun, affordable and engaging book from Parragon to add to his ever-growing library.

If you have a keen bookworm and you want something that organises their books in a way that they can easily reach but that looks good sitting in your lounge or in their room, the book caddy is a beautiful choice.

* Thank you to Great Little Trading Company - Ethan loves his new book caddy!
