The week that was #6

I've been a bit quiet this week, on here and on social media. It wasn't a conscious decision, just another one of those weeks filled with meetings, juggling schedules and a whole list of things to try and remember to check, book, plan or make time for.

Sometimes, something has to give but I'm feeling better and less worried about things these days. I'm trying to go with the flow much more rather than adding to my list or worries needlessly.

DOING Work has been busy this week. Again. In a very exciting way but still, it's had my mind all over the place recently.

My car decided to throw a spanner in the works with one very worn front tire leading to two tyres needing replacing that then led to my brake pads AND disks needing replacing also. Great. Luckily, we had some unexpected extra money this month but having put together some plans for it, to have my car hoover the best part of it up was a real pain. Ah well, these things happen.

On Wednesday, I welcomed one of my best friends to stay for a few days and she treated me to the bunch of flowers pictured above.

We'd only seen each other at the weekend previous, but she made the trip to see us so she could spend some quality time with Ethan, being one of his Godmother's. Oh, and to see the Backstreet Boys movie, Show 'Em What You're Made Of, at the cinema.

Yep, you heard that right. I'm a big BSB fan (don't judge me, they rock) and have been for 22 years, and this was a one-off screening event of their documentary to 480 cinemas across Europe at the same time, followed by a performance streamed live from London. Naturally, we thoroughly enjoyed our evening.

We spent Friday enjoying some retail therapy (some new home, Cath Kidston and Ethan's clothes haul posts coming soon) and each other's company. We used to live together as students and hanging out for a few days felt just like the old days. Just lovely.

When the weekend rolled around, we spent time as a family.

Saturday was filled with a few household bits and bobs, like re-dressing our dresser, making a book caddy (post coming later this week) and clearing out the playroom, plus lots of playtime including watching the new Sooty DVD (more about this on here tomorrow).

Ethan didn't nap so ended up going to bed quite a bit earlier than normal with no fuss so we were naughty and tucked into a couple of Easter eggs early (sorry Bex!).

It was a lovely day spent with my favourite people in my favourite place.

On Sunday, we had such a nice day out. I'd seen the day before on Instagram a few photos from Brummy Mummy of 2 that got me very excited and made me book tickets instantly. You see, I have a Frozen fanatic in the house, particularly for Sven the reindeer, and at Blithbury Reindeer Lodge in Rugeley, they were hosting a Frozen weekend where children could meet Anna, Elsa, Olaf and of course, the real life Sven, and join in with singalongs and other activities. How could I not take Ethan?!

Here's Sven, the star of the show in Ethan's eyes. He recognised all the reindeer as soon as he saw them and it really was fantastic to see how happy Ethan was to see a real life Sven.

We even got to meet Queen Elsa too. She looked rather cold but was happy nonetheless.

Do you wanna build a snowman? YES!

Reindeers are better than people...

Afterwards, we met hubs' family at Ask in town for a meal which was a nice treat. Ethan spent the whole time telling them all about Sven, or Schen as he calls him, and colouring in pictures.

FEELING This week, I've been feeling scatterbrained. More so than normal. I used to be able to rely on my memory, much more so than I can now. It's since having Ethan that I've found it harder to concentrate or remember all the little things I need to remember. I'm not blaming him but I guess when you become a mum, there's so much else to have on your mind that you can only cope with so much.

I've remembered some things but then forgotten them just when it counts and I even left my car window, drivers side, open all the way overnight and didn't realise until 9.15am the next morning. D'oh!

PLANNING We've never liked our bathroom but it's always felt like too big a task for us to contemplate. Until now. Possibly. We want to re-tile from top to bottom and take out an old cupboard that use to house a water tank so I've started pinning ideas (you can follow my Pinterest board here) and will no doubt share our progress, if there is any, on here. The plan is to use the Easter holiday to get this done so we need to start making some decisions soon.

We're also looking at giving our bedroom a mini makeover. I've never felt 100% happy with it, despite loving my dressing table and the layout, so we want to make a few changes to make it warmer and more inviting. We're working to a 'modern rustic' kind of theme; think check bed linen and curtains, exposed brick effect wallpaper and some wicker baskets. You can see the ideas I've had so far on Pinterest if you're interested.

LOVING My Cath obsession has continued this week (as I mentioned, I'll be sharing more on this soon so you can see what I've been buying and my new tea set is pictured earlier in this post - an early Mother's Day present). So has my stationery addiction, with the addition of the new Domino Filofax A5 Organiser to my life. It's a beaut. Plus my new Happy Jackson sticky notes are both fab and apt at the same time.

It's been a pretty busy one by all accounts and I still have plenty to share. As the new week begins, so does Spring and I for one am ready for the new season. See, I have my CK cloud dress ready and everything.
